Overview: The Brief Assessment of Recovery Capital (BARC-10) looks at the resources a person has to aid their recovery from substance abuse. There are many different examples of resources including social, physical, psychological, environmental, and relational resources. Typically, as amount of resources increase, resiliency increases. This is a great, shorter (10 questions) alternative to the Assessment of Recovery Capital (ARC) which includes 50 questions.

Scoring and interpretation: Answers are scored on a 6-point Likert scale from 1 to 6 with 1 for "Strongly Disagree" to 6 for "Strongly Agree." Scores are summed and total scores range from 10 to 60. Higher scores are associated with higher amounts of recovery capital or resources.
Reliability/Validity: The BARC-10 has high internal consistency (α = .90), as well as concurrent validity with the original measure, the ARC (rpb =.90).
