Transgender Congruence Scale (TCS)
Updated over a year ago

Focus Area: Transgender Congruence

Overview: The Transgender Congruence Scale (TCS) is used to assess how comfortable people who are trans* are with their gender identity and appearance. It often opens up helpful conversations about these two topics.

Total number of items: 12

Administration: Self-report

Standardized cadence: Two weeks

Supported subscales: Appearance Congruence and Gender Identity Acceptance

Age range: Adult

Scoring and interpretation: Individual questions are scored from 1 to 5. Sum all of the items to find a total score. Total scores range from 12 to 60. Higher scores suggest higher gender congruence. There are a couple of questions that need to be reverse scored (6, 8, and 10) and there are also two subscales. The Appearance Congruence subscale is questions 1-9 and the Gender Identity Acceptance subscale is questions 10-12.
