Generalized Anxiety Disorder 2-item (GAD-2)
Updated over a year ago

Focus Area: Anxiety

Overview: The Generalized Anxiety Disorder 2-item (GAD-2) contains just the first two questions from the GAD-7 and is a much briefer version intended to be an initial screener for anxiety. If the result is positive, additional testing is recommended including the GAD-7.

Total number of items: 2

Administration: Self-report

Standardized cadence: Weekly

Estimated completion time: Less than one minute

Supported subscales: None

Age range: Adult

Scoring and interpretation: Answers are scored on a 4-point Likert scale from 0-3. Scores are summed and total scores range from 0 to 6. Higher scores are associated with higher levels of anxiety. A score of 3 points or more suggests possible anxiety and should be followed up with additional testing.
