Brief Description
The Problematic Pornography Consumption Scale Short Version (PPCS-S) is a 6-item psychometric tool designed to assess problematic behaviors related to pornography use. It is a condensed form of the original PPCS scale. Respondents rate items focusing on key factors that indicate problematic consumption, such as frequency of use, difficulties in controlling use, and the impact of pornography consumption on daily functioning and well-being (e.g., "I neglected other leisure activities as a result of watching porn."). Items are rated on a scale from "Never" to "All the time." The PPCS-S helps researchers and clinicians quickly identify individuals who may need further evaluation or intervention for issues related to pornography use, while minimizing respondent burden.

Every 6 months or sooner if clinically indicated.
Summary of Scoring and Interpretations
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale. To calculate the total score, sum the responses for each item. Total scores range from 6-42 with higher scores indicating greater likelihood of problematic pornography use. A cutoff score of 20 points or more indicates possible problematic pornography use.

Estimated time for completion: 2-3 minutes
This scale is validated with ages 18+. It is reasonable to think the measure would be valid to use with adolescents if clinically indicated.
