Brief Description
The PROMIS Parent Proxy Depressive Symptoms - Short Form 6a V2 is a parent-report assessment designed to evaluate depressive symptoms in children. It includes six items, each asking the parent to report on their child's emotional and behavioral experiences over the past week (e.g., "My child felt everything in his/her life went wrong"). This tool is valuable for clinicians in tracking depressive symptoms through parent observations and can be used in various settings, including healthcare and school environments.

Summary of Scoring and Interpretations
Each item is scored on a 5-point Likert scale, ranging from "Never" (1) to "Almost always" (5). The total raw score involves summing the values of each response. The total raw score can range from 6 to 30, with higher scores indicating more severe depressive symptoms. After calculating the raw score, it can be converted to a T-score using a standardized table (see below), allowing for a more precise interpretation relative to the general population. For most PROMIS instruments, a score of 50 is the average for the United States general population, with a standard deviation of 10.

The PROMIS Parent Proxy Depressive Symptoms - Short Form 6a V2 is meant to enhance clinical decision-making. It should not serve as the sole basis for making a diagnosis.
