Overview: The Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation II (BFNE-II) is a self-report measure used for measuring fears of negative evaluation in the context of social anxiety.

Scoring and interpretation: A cutoff score of 25 may be indicative of clinically significant social anxiety

Reliability/Validity: Cronbach’s alpha for the BFNE-II was found to be as high as 0.98. The BFNE-II correlates strongly with other measures of social anxiety, and factor analyses have supported a unitary solution. 

Additional information: The BFNE-II is particularly useful as a process measure for assessing the effectiveness of exposure-based therapy for social anxiety disorder over the course of treatment.
